Rubber Boots & Wildflowers

I
Some days, our minds are heavy, and our thoughts are scattered. I woke up feeling this way. Then I read Psalm 145:8 on my phone, sent to me by my friend, Julie.
The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love.

He talks to us so personally; it is hard to deny that it isn’t him. He knows us so intimately and understands us completely. Psalm 147:5 says
How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension.

I love my green rubber boots with wildflowers printed on them. I wear them all over our pasture. So, when this picture came to me today, I looked at it and thought, my boots are caked with mud, but the boots in this picture are white as snow. My boots are worn but the boots in this picture are overflowing with beautiful flowers. It occurred to me how he sees us.
If only we will lift our minds off of ourselves and focus on him, he will help us when we are troubled. Julie explained it so well when she said, “Do we know we are perfectly loved?”
If we are thankful for his love for us, praise him and thank him for such a wonderful gift.

Thank you, Father

Words

Debby Hartnell-2017

Words are precious and begin spoon fed
words grow up to be spirit led
words are filled with nutrients
the heart pumps through the veins
the impulsive tongue says what comes
the one that’s wise, refrains
words can sing a lullabye
a lovely peaceful tune
sung to an unborn baby
inside his mother’s womb
words are often hard to say, too often left unsaid
imprisoned in a shadow, that hovers overhead
oh, but words can weave a tapestry
of the journeys that we face
God is the word, and faithful
to speak to us, his grace.

My newest written song-one day it will have a tune!

Come, guardian of my soul
Debby Hartnell-2022

when the darkest of days overwhelm me
when I’m feeling despair take its toll
when I’m desperately needing compassion
come, guardian of my soul
your voice falls soft
like gentle rain
on my heart when it’s heavy as stone
the hurt is more than I can bear
too much to bear alone
but I am not alone-I never was
and never will I be
the armies of heaven and Jesus himself
are praying over me
even when I’m not asking for help
someone who loves me is
then the Lord bends down and listens
to the prayers of those who are his

oh, mover of mountains
fullness of light
whisper your promises
all through the night
though I waver from faith to fear
I wake in the morning
and you are still here

then you tenderly touch
every wound every ache
you make the decisions
my mind cannot make
you lift up my head
even when I resist
giving reason to live and move and exist
through all my mistakes
through my unbelief
through the worst of my
inconsolable grief
you fill my heart with love and joy
and now my heart is whole
you are with me every moment
come, guardian of my soul

oh, mover of mountains
fullness of light
whisper your promises
all through the night
though I waver from faith to fear
I wake in the morning
and you are still here.
